Today, many people have already known that hair loss can occur not only on men but also on women. In fact, while men’s baldness is more popular, female pattern baldness is also quite common and can take place even before the age 30. At least, it is not going to be complete balding. It is also known as hereditary hair loss, and it causes the gradual thinning on the top of the scalp. There are two popular products that many men and women use to combat hair loss: Rogaine and Keranique. So, how do Rogaine vs Keranique compare to each other? Which one is the most effective product?
The most popular product of Rogaine that people use is the foam treatment. The company has produced different products for men and women. Make sure that you choose the correct product because the formulas are slightly different. Furthermore, Rogaine is designed to treat hair loss that starts on the top of the scalp. It probably will not work for patchy hair loss, frontal baldness, and receding hair line.
You need to make your hands cold but dry to apply the Rogaine foam. Simply wash your hands in cold water and dry them. Then, squeeze the foam out from the can to your fingers, and apply the foam directly to the vertex of your scalp. Massage gently while spreading the foam evenly.
Just like Rogaine, Keranique is primarily designed for hair loss that starts on the vertex area of the scalp. It may not work for other types of hair loss. There are several different treatments that Keranique offers, but the most popular ones are the foam – we have discussed it in Keranique vs Bosley, also the shampoo and the conditioner.
You can use the foam pretty much just like you use Rogaine, but the bottle has an extended nozzle so that you won’t have to put the foam on your fingers first. Or you can use the shampoo first, rinse the hair, and then apply the conditioner.
The next thing to consider when choosing between Rogaine vs Keranique is the ingredients. Both of these two products use topical minoxidil, which has been scientifically proven to reduce DHT levels on the scalp. DHT can disrupt the hair growth and even kill the hair follicles, and this is the common cause of hair loss on the vertex area.
Rogaine has 5% minoxidil, which is a higher concentration than the one in Keranique. Furthermore, it contains BHT, cetyl alcohol, glycerol anhydrous, citric acid anhydrous, polysorbate 60, lactic acid, and stearyl alcohol.
On the other hand, Keranique uses 2% minoxidil, alcohol, and propylene glycol. Due to the lower concentration of minoxidil, Keranique is not as potent. Be careful if you are sensitive or allergic to minoxidil; the possible side effects include burning, redness, dizziness, irregular heartbeat rate, and difficulty breathing.
Rogaine vs Keranique
Both Rogaine and Keranique are designed for hair loss that starts on the vertex area, on the top of the scalp. They may not work for other types of hair loss. Of the two, Rogaine is a more potent product because it has a higher concentration of minoxidil, which is used to reduce the DHT levels. So, Rogaine is the better choice.
